What sets the Echo Park Craft Fair apart from other markets of its kind is that this is an event not merely showcasing and celebrating artists, but curated and founded by artists as well. Co-founders Beatrice Valenzuela Rachel Craven are successful designers with established namesake lines. Together, they have spearheaded and nurtured what has now become both an evolving e-commerce business and a one-of-a-kind communal gathering.

Encompassing clothing, shoes, jewelry and accessories, Valenzuela’s work is a distinctive reflection of her background, her surroundings, and her family. In 2009, Valenzuela debuted her now iconic shoe line. Handmade and elegantly simple, her footwear quickly developed a cult following, and her unique aesthetic began to extend to interiors and immersive environments – an Airbnb interior she designed with her partner, the designer Ramsey Conder, as well as the opening of a local boutique. The designer recently launched a new clothing line, an assortment of thrillingly feminine skirts, dresses and tops. Like all her work, regardless of medium, the pieces mirror both the designer’s past and her present – from her vivid Mexican childhood to a California community in full creative bloom.

Rachel Craven is a textile artist, designer and creative consultant who lives and works in Echo Park, CA. She is also the West Coast editor of Domino Magazine and co-founder of The Echo Park Craft Fair. The daughter of two painters, she grew up in the arts-focused neighborhood of Tribeca and later attended the School of Visual Arts. After school, a stint as a fashion stylist took her to Los Angeles where she transitioned back to painting and design. A passion for fabric and geometric design led to her current line of textiles and a rapidly growing clothing line. The vibrant and elegant collection can be found at Clic Gallery, Tenoversix, and General Store. Rachel has been featured in Domino, C Magazine, Apartment Therapy, T Magazine and Martha Stewart’s Living.
