STUDIO VISIT: Kathryn Bentley of Dream Collective
Company: Dream Collective
Artist: Kathryn Bentley
Kathryn Bentley has been a part of the Echo Park Craft Fair family since its inception as a back yard fair. Her namesake line of elegant, magical fine jewelry flourishes from carefully selected materials and the skillful hands that craft them. We visited Kathryn to photograph her in her studio, and she spoke to us about her inspirations and what EPCF means to her.
Kathryn is wearing her own jewelry and Rachel Craven top and pants. You can shop Kathryn’s outfit at the links below.
Tell us about your current collection.
This year has been a huge transition for me…I became a mother last spring and have been concentrating on fine jewelry. The current collection is inspired by metamorphosis, pollination and remembering the past.
How long have you been participating in the Echo Park Craft Fair?
I have participated since the beginning… we set up blankets on the hillside on Sargent Place… I mostly traded with other vendors and met new friends.
What does it mean to you to be part of the Echo Park Craft Fair?
First of all, I feel honored to have been part of this community for 10 years. There is a loyalty and sense of family that Beatrice and Rachel have created. It’s not just about selling, but also about being part of a creative energy that inspires me.
Has EPCF been important to your creative and business growth?
From the start, I have met so many people that have helped me along the way with my business. I had a store for the past seven years that featured many of the designers from the EPCF, including Bea, Rachel, B. Zippy, Wendy Polish, and Agnes Baddoo, just to name a few. These women have inspired me, supported me and mentored me over the years.
