DESIGN & COMMUNICATION MANAGER

DESCRIPTION

The Design & Communication Manager is a one person design and promotion team for the twice yearly Echo Park Craft Fair. Our event draws over 5,000 visitors to who come not only to shop a highly curated aesthetic, but also to experience a one-on-one connection with the artists, creating a vibrant sense of community among artists and customers. The DCM handles both digital and print channels to creatively communicate with our audience and reach new audiences. This means designing to a rigorous aesthetic standard that the DCM helps create with the input of the EPCF team. It also means creating content that communicates our core values of artistic community and mutual uplifting.

The DCM’s main areas of responsibility are the website, email newsletters, EPCF brand book, Instagram and Facebook posts, online store, event invitations (print and digital), and event signage. They handle both content creation and scheduling.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implement brand standards (both visual and philosphical) throughout all public and internal platforms
  • Create content showcasing aspects of event such as interviews with artists and product features
  • Manage social media accounts with regular posting
  • Manage company website, updating frequently with event into and brand-forward content
  • Create and schedule regular email newsletters
  • Run special promotions such as giveaway contest
  • Design and handle all aspects of printed ephemera such as postcards and event brochures
  • Handle various design projects such as event map and brand book

REQUIREMENTS

  • Highly skilled in graphic design for web and print. A strong eye for color, font, and layout is a must
  • Passionate about the mission of the Echo Park Craft Fair – supporting artists and craftspeople – and able to communicate this mission effectively through design and promotions
  • Experienced in marketing and communications
  • A skilled copywriter
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, create deadlines, and stick to them
  • An excellent communicator, with the ability to work with the input of EPCF leaders to develop new designs and help team members implement them
  • Web literate, particularly with Google suite apps (gmail, drive, docs, sheets)
  • Familiar with, or able to quickly master websites such as WordPress, Mailchimp, and Square 
  • Living in Los Angeles, and have reliable transportation

SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION

  • This position is part time (16-24 hours a week)
  • Pay rate is $30-35/hr DOE.

JUNIOR GRAPHIC DESIGNER

DESCRIPTION

The Echo Park Craft Fair is looking for a part-time junior graphic designer to join our team! The junior graphic designer will work under the guidance of the Communications Coordinator to help create digital content for our website, social media, and email newsletters.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implement the EPCF brand and style standards across digital platforms
  • Use existing content to format and schedule posts for WordPress website
  • Use existing content to design email newsletters
  • Implement design and content updates to website
  • Organize content to use for social media posts
  • Prioritize order of completing tasks based on promotions schedule
  • Assist with varied promotional and design projects such as creating Google forms for contest entries or designing event signage

REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong graphic design experience, proficiency with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Familiar with WordPress, Mailchimp, and Google apps (Drive, Docs, Sheets)
  • Available to work in-office in Glendale, CA at least 4 hours a week; working remotely the rest of the time
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and keep shared files extremely organized

SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION

  • This position is part time (approximately 8-16 hours a week) and temporary (through mid-May).
  • Pay range is $22-25/hour DOE.
