ARTIST INTERVIEW: Nitsa Citrine of Sun Potion

Nitsa is an artist, lover of tea, high-vibe foods and holistic lifestyle, currently serving as the Creative Director of Sun Potion Transformational Foods. She lives in Santa Barbara, CA. We spoke to Nitsa about her creative process.

What are your most important artistic tools?
A clear mind, an open heart, a good camera, clean water, tonic herbs, writing utensils.

Do you have a daily working routine? What is it like?
I love to wake up in the morning, take a moment to articulate my gratitude for my life and/or the current moment, then pour myself a few rounds of tea. Most days I make myself a blended tonic herbal potion after this, which I usually photograph for @sunpotion, and then move unto the given project of the day…

What do you do, or where do you go to seek fresh ideas or renewed creative energy?
Nature, tea, hermetic periods. I love to go back home to Big Sur when I am seeking creative renewal.

What other artist currently working do you admire?
I am currently inspired by my friend Tasya van Ree. She is a brilliant photographer and artist based in LA – who imbues a sense of magic, honesty, intelligence and beauty into her work – visually stunning and energetically resonant. Tasya’s work is sensitive, sharp, vulnerable, reflective and I love to see how her vision evolves… she is working on this great series of grapite drawings right now that is super mystical/ fantastical and I am excited to see how it unfolds!

Why is it important to you to show and share your work to a larger community?
I feel grateful to exist and work in a world where my love of plants, healing foods, the arts and design seem to intersect in this magical and open-format way… I love observing how the daily ritual of tea or herbs is something that most people can tune into, and bring their own artistry and style to, as I do through photography, design, curated events, and beyond… it is an honor and a pleasure to share this awareness with others through my creative vision and to get to collaborate with others in this multi-sensory space.
